Re: 85 Force 125

Thanks Bry
I covered that one already, I replaced the ex. boot, spring, and snap ring(a real bugger) but that problem is gone. I was just idling to low it was it feels like, even when I start I have to have the idle up off of 800rpm to about a 950-1000 to make her stay running as soon as I go back to nuetral, then reversre or foward she dies cause, if I do it off of a fast idle real quick, she'll go but that cant be good for the L/U. Makes for a helluva time docking or trailering

Ok,
What I had to do to fix this problem was adjust the springs on the Cables coming from the control box. On my engine you pull the cables off, where they attach to the arm just past the Fule filter on the block. Then each of them could be twisted to allow for more tension. It took me forever to find this, but once I did she never will stall.

It took some time to get it tweaked correctly. I then had to adjust the cam piece that links up to the carbs correctly, once I had the tension correct.

You want to talk about a nightmare, trying to backup and/or dock your boat when you can't idle correctly. I fell you pain, because I had it in the past.

I also put some boyeson reeds in mine, and they made it scream.

Also, Deep Creep Decarb works awesome. It is made by a company called Sea Foam, it was recommened on here by 12 footer, now I use it for everything, car, boat, motorcycle, anything with an engine nad it always helps with power. Napa carries this I know for about $5 here a spray can.

Hope this helps,
Bryan Cox

Hey Bry,
Sorry to jump in on someone else's post but can you elaborate on "adjusting the springs". I have a '87 Force 125 and of course it stalls at low RPM. I was just about to increase the idle as I have read many times on this board, but now you have a real solution? Please give details.

Thanks

I also would like to know which springs your talking about Bry cause I to need to adjust them.
When I do a compress. ck it says ground plug? Do they mean put spark plug back in wire after removing it then what? how do I ground plug and do I pull all plugs then ck each cyl. or 1 at a time? I I pull all how do I ground them all? I am so confused and the book is vague on this

Re: 85 Force 125

Check all three plugs to make sure they all have spark while it's on the trailer getting water from the hose.
If all three are getting spark, fire it up and retest while it's running.
Adjust the throttle to 3K rpm, check again.
Adjust the throttle to 3500 rpm, and check again.
Let me know at about what range does it start cutting out.
I am guessing 4-4500 rpm, bottom cylinder loses spark, or becomes erratic. Let me know.
