Chads,
it was me. Just curious what type of setup you have, your top end, max rpm, etc.

****, now you have got me thinkin. Mine was being tuned this spring and the guy said everything was fine. I havent replaced the impeller since 94. it is peeing fine and dont overheat so I guess im okay. Every season sounds a bit much, as well as expensive.

Take care
Deerdog

Re: 92 Force 150

Mr.Deerdog

Yes my Motor sits on the back of a 19 foot maxium. with a good prop it will do about 48 to 58 with just 1 person in it. tac is running about 6700 rpm. gas take is sucking fumes. when she is fully loaded. 3 or 4 people cooler ect. she will do about 42 to 48. the weight is running about 3200 LBS and tac is pushing 6200. as far as the impeller is conserned. the dealer told me that it should be done every season @ max every other season. now remember this boat sat for 5 years. im sure that didnt help it much. but it ran for 4 years with the same one. but if i were you. i would buy one and have it on standby. the dealer also told me that they like to just die. so keep an eye on your pee. any changes then do it. the cost of an impeller was about 30 bucks. andit took about 1 hour to change. very easy to do! cause believe me. your heart will jump when that over heat buzzer goes off.

Chad

Re: 92 Force 150

Wow, 48 to 58 @6700. Man you must have a light boat. Mine is on a 19 ft arriva (a heavy boat) and will do at best 53 at about 5600 rpm with no gas and only me in the boat. The redline on mine is 5300 and with a normal load of gas and 2-3 people it will do between 48 and 50. I dont even think mine would hit 6700 rpm.

What pitch prop are you running? Mine is 21. It is aluminum as I couldnt swing a SS yet. Man that is awesome and by far the best tope end.rpm I have ever heard of with this motor. Most are 5600 to 5800. I honestly didnt know they would rev that high.

Thanks
Deerdog

Re: 92 Force 150

Okay, thanks. you top end is still pretty good. Guess the prop makes up that difference along with the weight of my boat (it is heavier than the Maxums). 48 to 58 at 5700 is still great. Thanks again and good luck with your motor. Like you I had bought mine but it had sat for a year but the dealer replaced the water pump assy. I changed the impeller in 94 when I had to rebuild the lower end - that was right after I had the top end rebuilt. What a bummed out summer that was.

Deerdog

DEERDOG, Escuse my lazyness again. the impeller should be replaced once a year or every other year. just the impeller. not the manifold gasket or the thermostat. i realy need to watch what i am typing.

Re: 92 Force 150

Chads,
Thanks again. I knew the manifold gasket (which I had to replace this year as it had a pinhole leak found during the tune up) and thermostat didnt need to replaced each year. I will take a closer look at my motor pee to check the impeller though. Two weeks ago it was fine. Thaks again

deerdog
