We need more info, Puzzled. Are all cylinders firing? What happens if you pump the primer bulb? Are the chokes stuck closed?

Fouled plugs could be several things, most of them bad. Running too rich is the most likely and easiest to fix. Stuck chokes or floats can cause it.

Give us some history. Did you ever see this thing run right? What did the previous owner say about performance?

Standing by.

JB

Hmmm. I found your other post. Very confusing when you drop what has been covered and start fresh. Makes someone trying to help look dumb.

Look for sticking chokes or floats, pull plug wires one at a time to see if all cylinders are really firing.

Good Luck.

Red sky at night.
JB

sorry bout that. didnt mean to make you or anyone look dumb, wasnt sure if i was to hit the reply or start fresh. We had it out for past two weeks and has run great, friday nite it ran great, then this past saturday, we started with the problems like overnight.
the primer bulb, at first, we would have to use it , but a of saturday, we never had to squeeze it before starting it up. the chokes are all open. when we shut it off and looked at the motor, there was gas laying in the carburator, and there was gas (film) laying ontop of the water around the back part of the boat.Plugs were black, put new in, but it still at full throttle, went only 10mph and still dies at full throttle too.thought it was odd we didnt have to prime it before starting it, that only begune on sat. also. when the motor is running, it sounds like it is reving up and going full throttle except its not only 5-10mph.

You might have 2 problems, Puzzled. I don't have much experience with FORCE engines, but if the engine is really revving up without moving the boat you may have a "spun" prop hub.

The dead cylinder could be missing spark, starving for fuel or flooded. Sounds like flooded is most likely.

Take that carb apart. Look for anything preventing the float from cutting off gas when the bowl is full, or anything restricting the flow of air to the reeds.

Good luck and let us know what you find.

Red sky at night. . .
JB

Check the compression and spark. Spark should jump 3/8 gap at cranking rpms.

Say, Lonewolf. What would happen if the "dead" cylinder had spark but no fuel?? Maybe there are more than three things that could be wrong??

thanks. Found our prop is bent, and the powerhead,or powerpack is bad, what would cause that?

Re: 1990 , 90 horse force still no power

we seemto be hearing alot of things in this message board about the Force motors, similar problems too, does anyone know if maybe these arent good motors to have? With the similar problems and all, makes one wonder if the Force isnt living up to its name??
