Re: Help, lost 1 cyliner
You will need the manual for tyour engine,Fisher83.
Your CD unit or switchbox will depend on year it was made. Some even had the Merc thunderbolt ignition.
To check the compression, you will need a compression gauge. These can be purchased for around 25buks for a really good one.
To perform the check, you unscrew the park plug, ground-out the plug wire to the motor frame (so you don't blow the CD unit), and screw the threaded fitting of the gauge into the plug hole.
Then you turn the engine over 3-or 4 times, and take the reading...Then move on to the next one.

Back to the missing spark. Initially, you have to check every connector from the box. Unplug one of them, inspect it for a white powdery corrosion. If it is shiny, and the connection is mechanicly tight, go on to the next one. Don't disconnect them all at once, or you might end-up with "what-goes where syndrome"...No fun. A cordless dremmel drill with a rotory brush attachment is da bomb for cleaning the terminals, but you might need a small bore brush for those round plug-in type.

If this corrects your problem, and you have cleaned them all, take some "liquid Tape" (comes in the same kind of can as PVC glue), and coat these connections,so they are water and moisture-tight).
