My father bought a used 14' V bottom a couple of years ago. Included in the deal were a couple of motors, a 20 hp Chrysler and a 5 hp OTASCO (Oklahoma tire and supply company). Both are pretty old and we've been kicking around trading or selling them. Question 1: What are old engines (Not antiques but not far from it) generally worth? Question 2: Do they have to run well to be worth anything? (both of the above motors usually run but they seem to be more like a Harley engine than an outboard.) I'm sorry that I don't have any more information than I do but I'm not a great boater in the first place. I usually have better luck just fishin off the bank but it's important to my dad.

Thanks
Sandcreek.

I would check out Ebay first.

Didn't Otasco go out a business about 20 years ago? I didn't know they sold Otasco brand motors... :D

Old motor prices are pretty subjective. Many people
wouldnt give anything for either motor running or not They are too old and are off brands. There are collectors that might give you a fair price
for one or both motors. What he would consider fair and that could be pretty broad. If you go on the antique outboard motor club site youll find over 100 adds for motors etc. and not one price.
And there are people in between that might buy the motors just to tinker with. All that said go on EBAY check out the outboard auctions . Under sporting goods boating Pay attention to condition etc. usually no warranty, and the buyer pays shipping sometimes over 100 dollars. That will give you some Idea on their value. I sure am long winded. Have fun, Spike

Information is really scarce on the Otasco motors. In a nutshell, they apparently made in 1968-69 in 31/2,5,and 7 hp. That is all I can find. Good Luck!
