hi i took the boat to the shop. the stator is shot he put a new one on and one used powerpack the bill came to $438.95 is this a fair price 1984force 85 hp thanks way577

Yes, that's decent, considering he got you back on the water under what a new box and stator would cost new----minus labor (a biggie).<br />Of course, you could allways have done better... even if you did it in your own garage, shopped ebay for a while,until you lucked-out and found these parts for 10buks.<br />Don't laugh, anything is possable. I found a Merc inline 6 distributor assembly for 10 bukz locally, 56buks on the net auctions, 150bucks from a used dealer online, and 385bukz for a NOS assembly. Needless to say, I got the one locally

12footer thanks for the fast reply he said that he gave me a deal i sand his driveway in the winter for free so i can get good deals in summer didn't know if he was pulling my leg about a good deal thanks way577
