on the top of the head (top of motor) I have a 1/8" nipple that looks like it had a hose on it. I can see no place for this to go to. It is in the water jacket when I start the motor water sprays out. I have checked other Force motors and they have a plastic plug in this spot. can some one enlighten me as to where this may have been used??

Welcome to iboats, Round2.<br />To be certain,I'd have to see a pic. If it is directly underneath the thermostat housing on the head, it is more-n-likely the overheat sender. It will have a single wire going to it, so look for a loose wire in the area. If this wire touches ground, it will sound the 'overheat' alarm.

It is on the very top above the thermostat housing. It sticks straight up. It is small. vand brass. got this motor for free runns good but I dont want to burn it up missing a hose. I thought it was for a temp gauge myself.

Some of the Force's come with a little plastic plug in this hole... Since most of them end up being rigged on Bayliners and other entry level boats that don't have alot of gauges most of the motors you see will still have this plug in place... the boat the motor came off of had a water pressure guage... that's why they pulled the plug and put that fitting there... Plug it..or better yet get a water pressure guage...

Re: 1990 90hp force

My Force 50 has an aluminum screw plugging this hole. If I put a fitting in and ran a little hose out the side of the lower engine cowling for a tell-tale, would I lose water pressure enough to be dangerous to proper engine cooling? I would like to have an easy visible indicator of water pump function instead of having to crawl back and see if water is spritzing out the two holes in the lower leg.
