I have a Force 125 1987. I have had it 4 years with no probs until now. Was out at weekend and suddenly got a loss of power. Did the usual tests.
Have a strong spark on all pots. I did a compression test and have 125,75,125,125.
Removed each plug lead with engine running at about 1500rpm and taking no.1 and 2 off made little difference to the sound. No. 3 and 4 both stalled the engine. Cannot understand why pot 1 does not stall considering comp of 125.
Any suggestions as where I should start would be appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.

Ok - 2 things

You either lost a ring on the cylc with 75 - or/and you lost one of your power paks. (mine did the same)

Each power pak controls 2 cyls - 1&2 and 3&4

Pull your plugs and look in the cylindar for marks on the piston top - that is an indicator of a broken ring flying around in there.

Use a timing light and test for spark on 1&2 (through all speeds) (do it in water).

Pray it's the power pak - the rebuild would be alot more.

good luck

jim

I have a strong spark on all cylinders. I have never done a decarb. Is it possible it could be carbon in the cylinder.

Took the head off last night. Found that head gasket had broken ay cylinder no. 2 into water jacket.
Any special advice on replacing head gasket. :)

I would get the clymer book for it and follow the directions. NO matter how good the advice is here - I would not suggest anyone tear into an engine with having the manual by their sides.

You need to clean all surfaces - and make sure the head is not warped or distorted. Put on the new head gasket and torque as per the clymers specs. It's easy to do - but it must be done right.

You also may want to inspect other parts for water damage to bearings - cyl walls - etc.

good luck :)

Also take a look at the carburetor that feeds #1 and #2 cylinder. Since you have good spark but pulling the plug wires on 1 & 2, with the engine running has no effect you may have carb problems too.
