What kind of bracket?

As a new owner of a bowrider with an outboard motor with tilt and trim, I seem to have lost the steel u-shaped bracket, about 12 inches long (that looped back on itself) that could be put in the motor bracket of my Force 90 hp outboard to hold it up during towing. The tilt and trim will hold it up for a while, but while going down the road the engine slowly moves down toward the ground. Went to a local boat shop and they sold me a transom saver, but due to the design of the trailer, there's no way that the transom saver can span from the trailer to the lower part of the engine even when fully extended.

So what's the name of the piece that fell out? I can't seem to find anything like it on the internet so far....

Thanks for your help,
Matt Cline

Re: What kind of bracket?

Hi Matt Cline, a friend had a similar problem with a 125HP Force, the tilt/trim motor went bad, until he got it fixed he used a piece of plumbers PVC tube, about 1 1/4 inch diameter and about 5-6 inches in length, in his case he lifts up the motor by hand and the tube fits on a post protrusion on the T&T unit behind the motor, then lower the engine down, cut the tube to the length that fits and keeps the engine up as high as possible, PS: good luck and watch your fingers.

Well the part # is F5H179 and it's called a trailing bracket, I don't know if it's NLA but if you call (or Email) any Mercury/Force dealer and they can tell you.
Good Luck.

Hey Matt, Force used a tilt bar that went from the holes in the motor legs to the tilt lock. Find a merc outboard dealer,(they bought force) and he can get you one.think its called a tilt bar or trailering bar.
