Recently acquired this motor along with 15' chrysler walk-thru tri hull. motor hasn't been run in several years (10 to 20). has been stored in garage. supposedly ran great when parked, hasn't been used due to death of man who owned it. motor looks like new under the cover and doesn't appear to have been taken apart(rebuild, etc.) i plan to check compression and rebuild the carb if compression checks ok. any other suggestions? any thoughts on this motor, good or bad? I already know I need new throttle and shift cables, fuel line and bulb, and a few other odds and ends. i don't want to put alot of money into it if it's not really worth it. Also, the skeg is bent pretty bad and it looks like the housing has been cracked from freezing. Does anybody know where I can get a used lower unit online, also carb kit and water pump parts? Also, where is the thermostat on this engine? Thanks for any help guys. NJ

Try EBAY for the lower unit.Just type in Chrysler outboard. There are also plenty of other parts for Chrysler at any given time. Some of them are even NOS. I've got a '70 55HP and have built up quite an inventory of Chrysler parts from EBAY. You would also want to replace fuel pump Diaphram and seals. NAPA has parts kit for this and also carb rebuild kit. They also have the lower unit seal kit. And as always, get a good manual. I personally like the Seloc manual as the Chrysler manuals are hard to find.

I tried NAPA for the carb kit. they said they couldn't do anything with the number i gave them. the number i got is stamped on the flange. WB1513 43506-1 Does this look like the right number to anybody? Or should I be looking somewhere else on the carb? Thanks

Re: 72 chrysler 55 hp questions

I just talked to a different NAPA store and they found a carb kit and ordered it for me. Guess they knew a little more about what they were doing than the first one. jdman

Another place with Chrysler parts is boatingsolutions.com . I bought carb kit, LU seals<br />points and condensers and some other stuff from them. The tune up kit is the best deal from them. By the way totalivewire, go to NAPA and ask to see or get their Marine catalog. They even have stuff for Chrysler OB.
