Hi,
I'm the one who had the post about a small amount of diesel in the gas tank. I did not mention in the last post that the idle speed also increased from about 750 rpm to about 1200 rpm. I drained the gas as much as I could - I couldn't pump any more out with the primer bulb - and added fresh gas and oil mix - six gallons. I ran it in a tank today and the idle speed was still at the 1200 mark. I turned the idle speed down to 750 rpm and the motor seemed to run fairly well but still smoked quite a lot. This was with new plugs. What would cause the increase in idle speed? The motor is a great runner and I do not want to do any damage. I ran it for about an hour in the tank at various rpm's. Thanks for any help.

Does anyone have any idea if the diesel could have been the cause for the high idle speed?

The high idle could be because diesel fuel contains more energy than gasoline.

Thanks for the reply - I am looking for any kind of idea and do not want to damage anything. Will the diesel cause the rings to stick any more than the regular mix or will it act as a kind of cleaning agent. I believe kerosene is a refined form of diesel.
Thanks for this board - I have gained much information reading current and past posts.
