I have a 1989 force 125 - and I am wanting to install an aftermarket voltage regulator. Has anyone had any luck doing this?<br /><br />My engine is charging @ 17+ volts. The rectifier was replaced in the last week. <br /><br />A mechanic friend said I needed to replace the stator - but that's very expensive, and not something I want to do. I have been searching for a regulator, but can't find one that would work.<br /><br />I can't see how this could be a very big deal... seems like a generic solid-state regulator that works with low amp output should do the trick. I just can't find one :-(<br /><br />Thanks!

A standard solid state regulator will not do the trick. The regulator you have pulls alternating current from the stator discharg and then converts it to DC. and auto regulator is not designed to work with the exact spects. Hence why they cost more I guess.

The regulator/rectifier I purchased was a part number 090A and was a universal regulator/rectifer for 200 watt or less with electric start. Got it from a snowmobile/ATV shop. Only cost around $35 and had only 4 wires. I hooked it up in place of the standard rectifier and now the voltage is limited to 14.4 volts.<br /><br />Good Luck

yes there is a regulator rectifier that you can add to your system. i have them in stock for $60.00+shipping but it sounds like you are using a maintenance free battery, if you are that is your problem. get your self a deep cycle marine interstate megatron battery. good luck, bret forceparts@yahoo.com
