Force 50 hp moves forward when reversing

My boat has a 50 hp Force motor, I had the power head replace some months back and just found time to go fishing. But when I put it in reverse it moves forward, and when in forward it moves forward. The place that did the repair has since closed and I was wondering how hard it would be to repair this myself, and what might be causing this to happen.<br />Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like you or someone else has lined the shifter up improperly. Take the gearcase down...find rev or neutral and push the case back up into place.<br /><br />TMD
