I have a Force 120 that's only a few years old; occasional fresh water use/low hours, BUT....thanks to my brother in-law not adding oil to the tank, the no. 1 cylinder through a rod :( . This baby's frozen.
What should I do with this engine? The engine was in almost new condition before this little mishap. What's it worth to someone who can rebuild it? We've gotten a new 4 stroke Yamaha, so I'm not up for rebuilding this engine.
How should I sell it? Should I sell it complete w/everything....prop, controls, etc. or part it out?
Thanks,
J.P. in Maryland/Virginia/DC area

You will probably get much more for it if you part it out, selling sections of it on ebay.

You have all winter to take it apart and get some good clear photos taken. There will be more people looking for parts in the spring, so I would wait till then to sell it.
Prop, lower unit, power t/t, cowl, ignition, stator, carb, etc. Make sure you identify all the parts and the model and serial number of the motor they came from. And make sure you accept PayPal, your bids will be higher and less hastle keeping things organized.

How expensive is to overhaul it. If it has only a few hours in the clock, fresh water usage, I would think of buying a new powerhead or overhaul it to put it back to work.
