I have a 90 HP Mercury Force, circa early 90's and the tilt only goes up and not down. It has 2 relays that control it and it clicks when you try to go down. I thought the problem may be relay related and I switched the two relays to check with no luck. It's full of fluid. Any other tests I can perform ?

All you get is a click for down using either relay...correct? But up works.

If this is so there must be a broken wire somewhere that supplies the power for the down cycle.

Green represents down, blue represents up.

TMD

aaron,
YOur trim motor is a dc reversing motor. disconnect the two wires coming from the motor to the relays. then take the two wires from the motor go straight to a battery and hook one on each post. the motor will go either up or down. then switch the wires the motor will run the opposite direction if it passes this test your trim motor is good and the problem is back in your relays. you might want to get at least one new relay because they go bad and it is nice to have a spare. good luck, bret

If you need further assistance please email me @ forcepower01@yahoo.com. thanks,Bret
