87- 89 force 85 hp bad check valve for tilt trim HELP!!

Can any one help me find a valve body for my 85 hp force engine yr is approx. 87-89 the tilt trim is going down and my mechanic said it was the check valve. he also hit me with a price tag of $300 any info would be greatly appreciated and i will tell you the secret spots in the outer banks for a good days fishing!!!!-jeff brown jsuperjeff2000@yahoo.com

Greetings, I have the same problem,I dont know if I am on the right track, but this is what I bought. Api marine sales inc ph 954 938 5111 had a check valve kit for 74.60 . I received 5 orings and 2 steel nipples. I am asking questions on how to assemble to pump assembly. check my msg posted on the bulletin board. Api bought out all the parts from another company that bought up prestolite the orig. mfg of this bleep bleep pump. I am hearing it is hard to get parts for it now. Dont know what we will do when all gone. How about a retro fit of some kind. What a thought. Frustrated on spring break and still not on the water. If anyone knows of any info or parts of plse advise us both.

The valve can be repaired with a 6.00 seal from merc. Search this forum for instructions and part number. The pump that has the allen screw headed valve is very easy to repair, the snap ring type valve a little harder.

The Merc pn for the seal is 820719. I doing fine, went back to work part time, turned into full time, between work, lawers, and doctors keeps me busy. Im down in South Florida not to far from Hadley.
