They switch identification methods in the early nineties. So if you can post the model number, and the serial number, we should be able to determine the year. You should be able to find them on an id plate on the side of the transom bracket.

50hp 508F92A 1992

According to my manual, the 1984 thru 1994, 25-50 hp models all used the same lower unit.

Thanks Roscoe,
There are two on Ebay now, I'll get one of them.

Another question,
With all I have been reading is there an issue with the force outboards over heating? At idle very litte water is pumped thru, but as of yet it has not run hot. This motor appears to have very few hours on it also.
Thanks again!

Lots of motors can overheat. But certain models of Force motors will suffer severe damage if they overheat.

If I remember correctly, your motor does not have a telltale water spout out the port side of the cowl. You do have the exhaust relief holes out the back of the midsection. Not much water ever comes out of these.

Best advice I can give, is to change your waterpump impeller every year, or maybe two.

Also, install a $50 water pressure gauge kit, and keep an eye on it while underway. It will tell you of a cooling system problem before the overheat occurs. You can get a lot of peace of mind just seeing that 10# of water pressure on the gauge.

Any comments on confirming the correct fill in the lower unit, and or tips about the lube?
Thanks again!
