My 1986 Force 50 HP has sheared the special flywheel key. The key seems to be a Woodruff key with an extending piece of metal on the back. The extending piece of metal drives the cam ring that opens and shuts the points.

Anyone know where I can purchase a new or used key? Is there a way to fix it with standard or home made parts?

Thanks.

You do not give a model number but here is a link to a good site for parts. Gives a complete breakdown of motor. I believe you are looking for #43. Hope this helps 50Hp Force

If you look at the bottom of the page there will be a parts breakdown.

Thanks a lot for the info. My model (507X6A)is listed and they have the part. It's great to know so many parts are still available for my older outboard. The exploded views of the major parts helps a lot. Thanks again!

You also might want to check out your local Mercury dealer. They have the replacement for the Chryslers so, they probably have the one for Force too.
