These motors are a bugger to get the water pump primed and pumping, while using muffs. I use a 100 gallon water tank.<br /><br />This motor does not have thru hub exhaust, so the exhaust and discharge water will exit thru the exhaust snout. Some water may spritz out of the exhaust relief holes on the back of the mid section. No, your motor does not have a traditional pee hole.<br /><br />You could add one if you can find a source for the water on the powerhead.

I had the same issue. There is a plug on the top of the thermostat, I added a piece of tubing there and drill a thru hole in the motor housing. When the thermostat opens it flows water. I have used this as a tell tale for the water pump discharge. I have had no problems with it so far

Hi pops521,<br /><br />With your setup, are you saying that water doesnt flow from the tell tale, UNLESS the thrmostat is open.<br />That just sounds dangerous, If you start your motor up, how long do you have to wait for water to come out? and isnt there the chance of cooking it in the meantime?<br /><br />If it works well, i think i will have to do this as well, but im a bit iffy on the idea yet!<br /><br />Thanx,<br />Brad

Roscoe, I have a '90 Force 35 Hp on a pontoon, noticed no "peehole" simular to wajajaja's situation but did have water exiting from two holes to the rear of the motor just above the water line, this is more of a spray than a stream... is this al lthat can be expected? Thanks for the answer :)

Hi Walkingfish,<br /><br />It took me a while to convince myself to add the tube at the thermostat. When I first start the motor there is no water shooting out of the tube.<br />As soon as the temp rises to allow the thermostat to open I get water. I have been running the motor in the yard before I launch, <br />just to verify all is good. I recently had trouble with no water coming out and the temp went up till the horn sounded. I knew I had a problem and when I pulled down the lower unit I found pieces of the impeller and knew my water pump was shot. <br /><br />Ever since I added the tube it has been the best way to know that the water pump and the thermostat are working fine. Just do whatever makes you comfortable. No one in two years has told me that this was bad so I have left it in place.<br /><br />Pops

I have an '87 Force 50, and on the lower unit area of the motor, on the right hand, inset bolt (closest to the transom), there is a small (1/8"?) hole beside this vertically facing bolt, from which flows a mixture of water and unburned fuel/oil: From other posters on this forum, I am informed that this is a Force-specific design. Your motor may or may not share this feature.

Hey rmorgan<br /><br />I don't know how it is on all motors, but on my 125 force there is a plug on the top of the thermostat housing on the right side. All I did was to add a fitting and run a tube down thru the motor housing to discharge. When I start the motor Water doesn't flow until the thermostat opens which takes a very short while. I have run the motor many times and have not had any trouble. It did on one occasion let me know that my water pump quit working and I was able to stop before it caused any problems. With out this hook up I had to wait on my overheat alarm.<br /><br />Paul

Hey I am sorry I did not call you back. I lost your number when we lost power last month. Anyway water should come out of the two holes down by the water line. It does not pee out but sort of mists out. Rumor has it that it should be the same temperature as a very warm bath.

hello, all, back from vacation, took the boat to oc md, but before i left had to wait for a new impeller to be installed on the qt, the local marina test ran the motor after installing a new sterring system and determined it was overheatting. fortunately they had the parts. <br /> now the boat has new impeller, sterring cables and box. the trailer has new bearrings and buddies, new tires and a spare, and the saying <br />"A BOAT IS A HOLE IN WATER THAT WE THROW MONEY INTO" has struck home! oh i forgot, new insurance policie, and unlimited towboat. <br /> total water time 4 hrs maybe?

Hi I also have a 1989 Force 125 and was wondering the same thing about the water. I have read and been told by a mechanic that water should look like its being spit out in lite sperts from the two holes but more shoots out of the fin right above the prop. hope that helps.
