Re: Newbie Choke question

Choke should be completly closed while starting. When you release the key from the pushed in position, it should open. Either your choke plate is sticking in the carb throat or the selonoid that pulls them shut is defective and stuck in the closed position. There is always the possibility that you are getting 12 volts to the selonoid at all times and that's what is holding the choke shut. This would lead me to the key switch being the problem/ Disconnect the wire(S) from the selonoid and see if they open. If so, I would suspect a faulty ignition switch. When you push the key switch in and out, can you hear it click?

Re: Newbie Choke question

I just replaced the selonoid but removed the wire(S) any way. It still would not open when ignition key are in pushed position. I can hear the clicking sound when key is pushed in but nothing happen. By the way I have a 1992 Force 150 not 1990 don't know if it may any differnt.

Re: Newbie Choke question

If you hear the clicking sound that means the solenoid is working. Can you see the solenoid plunger going up and down. If the choke is not hooked up to the solenoid it should be in the open position. The solenoid should pull it closed. The choke is spring loaded to be in the open position. My guess is the spring is broken. the linkage that connects the choke to the solenoid there should be a spring.
