I was putting in a new impeller on the lower unit of a 105 Hp Chrysler. I noticed a small hole ( about pin head size) on my housing which allows water to escape... is this a vent or does the housing need to be replaced? It looks like it was made this way..

I'm looking at a brand new housing and it has a slightly oversize pinhole...I don't know that it's necessary, but it's there. You should be fine as long as the housing is smooth enough not to prematurely erode the impeller...just a thought :)

Usually that hole you describe is to help the pump "prime". The air has to go somewhere. The sooner the air can be exhausted, the sooner it pumps water.
