I have a 97 120hp Force and wants to find out what are all to be done to winterize her. Please bear with me since I never have to winterize before. Thanks.

Change the gear oil in the foot. Put some fuel stabilizer in the gas and run it through the engine to get it in the carbs. Fog the engine. Wipe all the dirt and junk off the outside, spray something on the bare metal parts to keep them from rusting, WD40 or something similiar. Tilt the motor down so water won't stand around the prop area. The water drains out of the engine everytime you take it out of the water.

First, if your going to do it yourself, you need to get a manual.

The basics of doing the maintenance are covered here in the iboats maintenance section, or can be found by doing a search at the top of the page.
SHouldn't be hard to find as its been covered many times.

To change the impeller, you need to drop the lower unit and remove the waterpump cover.

To change the gear lube, simply drain out the old, pump in the new. DO NOT accidentally remove the shift pivot screw from the lower unit.

A $5 oil bottle pump makes the job a lot easier. Its available from any marine shop or boat supply shop.

For specifics for your motor, a repair manual is needed.
There are way way way too many details to list them all here.
It would take 3 hours to type it all.
I prefer the manual by Clymers, or the original factory manual from Mercury.

Thermostat, $9
Impeller, $18
Lower unit lube and new gaskets on the drain and vent screws, $5
Can of Seafoam Deep Creep decarb spray, $5
Fogging oil, $5
Tube of grease, $2

The education, tips, and detailed info you will receive from a repair manual, PRICELESS.

We will gladly help you with any specific questions you may have or troubles you may run into, but a manual is still needed.

Gotta change that lower unit lube before it freezes. If there is water in the lube, and it freezes, it could crack the lower unit.

kwk, I don't know, just guessin that the cheapest place would be NAPA. And no shipping charge either.
I think I paid $22 for the one in my old Force.

Does that motor use one of the expensive ( $40 ) impellers?
Maybe, don't know.
