1990 Force 50 Hp-exhaust problem

I dont have any speed,(approm 8 mhp).The exhaust comes out under power head only. No exhaust in lower unit.

There is a gasket between the lower leg and power head. It is probably blown. Check your compression for other possible problems.

My compression is 155 on each cylinder. Do you have to remove all the parts(carburetor,starter,etc) before you can get to exhaust gasket.It looks as though I can see all bolts for power head.

The lower bolts may be too long to get out without taking the head off. Try removing them first and see if they will come all the way off. Be careful not to break the screws. Over the years they become corroded and can be a bear to get off. The seal Docdoc mentioned will have no effect on compression. The are on the motor leg and the The attached link shows a picture of one of the gaskets<br /> lower and upper exhaust gaskets <br /><br />The ones I assume you are trying to remove are the ones on the port rear side of the motor. Which are shown on this link<br /> power head exhaust gaskets
