Hi,

I've got a Force 1987 507F7C #2915 motor.
The manuals don't show which side up the driveshaft seal goes in the lower unit. Does the groove side go up or down? It took so long to get parts I forgot which way it went in?

I don't have the right tools for the job. Can I just use PVC pipe and tap the lower one in? What about pressing the other driveshaft seal in with pipe and wood in a vice? (this one is in the waterpump body).

Is getting parts for these motors a problem? Are they a good motor? This one has about 15 hours on it.

Thanks very much. Bob

Double seals go one up and one down, a single seal goes lips down

You will find that some parts are hard to find. Force Motors are just updated Chryslers with 1970's technology, ignition, etc. They tend to run dirty and you may find yourself changing plugs fairly often. They are pretty simple to work on, and I would reccomend you get a repair manual for this motor. I would also get a compression check done before you start running it, that way you can spot any problems later on. Just be sure to keep mixing your gas and oil properly, replace the water pump impeller each year, decard the cylinders when needed (minimum yearly) and you should get some really good service out of it.

I noticed the plugs were really fouled when we got it. Don't understand why a motor would do that though.

The bottom seal went in ok after Laddieservice told me how it went in.

I guess I will try the other one using PVC pipe an a vice It should press in ok.

Thank you.
