Re: wot rpm 70hp/foot oil

I can't find a 1995 70hp Force. According to the manual, the 70hp was produced in 1991-93. In 1995, it was a 75hp. So, if it is a 70hp, the operating RPM range is 4500-5500. If it is a 75hp, the range is 4750-5250. It should say it on the motor somewhere too.

Re: wot rpm 70hp/foot oil

Welcome to iboats shawn.

Tim's Floater is looking at a Seloc manual, but it is wrong (one of my big problems with the Seloc manual).

I also have 1995 70hp Force.
rpm range is correct at 4750-5250
I run mine at 5300, up to 5500 if I put my spare prop on.

You really should get a manual if you plan on working on it, I prefer the Clymer Force manual, especially for the 70hp model.
It just covers that model a little better than the Seloc.

The 94-95 70hp motors have all the upgraded components that the early versions did not. It is a good motor, much better than any Force motor built in earlier years.

Your gearcase holds 12 oz of lube, so buy a quart and the little hand pump and you will have enough to change it twice.

There are 3 screws on the starboard side of the lower unit.
The one that is at the same height as the propeller shaft should NEVER be removed, or you are looking at big repairs. I put a dab of rtv/silicone sealant on that one so that is never gets removed by mistake.

The other two screws, one about 3 inches lower on the underside, and one about 8 inches higher, are for the lube.

Remove both screws to drain, an examine lube for signs of water intrusion or metal filings.

Put new gaskets/washers on the screw plugs. !!!!!

Attach oil bottle to the bottom hole, pump in the lube, insert and tighten the top screw plug.
Remove the fill tube and insert/tighten the bottom screw plug.

After running the boat in the water for an hour, check the lube for water intrusion by loosening the bottom screw plug and letting a couple drops of lube drip out.

"new at this game of broken boat send money."

What other problems are you experiencing?

Where are you located?

Geez, I hope the Seloc manual isn't wrong when I go to replace my impeller! I'm not so confident in the manual now :D

Re: wot rpm 70hp/foot oil

hey, thank you for the info, i am in anderson, sc
i have had the 20 ft pontoon for a year and have had to replace the stater (never heard of that one) and the tilt/trim motor (did that one myself after the dealership quoted me $440.00)
cost me $100.00 and ten minutes. i am thinking i need to change the prop, seems small and only get about 18 mph (boys need to tube faster) thanks again.

Tim, the Clymer manual has a few mistakes and ommissions too.

Both can get pretty vague at times. Thats why I have both. Peace. :)

You aren't going to get a lot of speed out of a toon, afterall, its a small barge.

Better to take that motor and drop it on a 16' aluminum hull, should run in the low to middle 30's. Get a little 25hp for the toon and let the games begin.
