I recently bought my first boat,a Chrysler 16 ft Bass Runner with a 70 hp Chrysler motor. The ignition switch stuck so I went to the outdoor shop and bought a new one.The old one is marked battery ,accessory ,ignition ,starter,my new one is marked battery, accessory, magneto, magneto(grnd),starter, choke. My question is do I have the wrong ignition switch or does the ignition wire go to the magneto spot on the new one?

Re: chrysler ignition switch

I don't know the answer to this but, it's a damn good question. Hopefully, one of the experts can answer this for both of us.

You should be able to get it to werk.
The "magneto" comes from the magento, or from the ignition.
The "Magneto Ground" goes to the motor frame ground, and grounds-out the magneto to kill the ignition.

Re: chrysler ignition switch

I got in touch with the "expert" at the outdoor shop and he told me to hook the ignition wire to the accessory lug.I tried this and was getting no fire,so I tried it everywhere on the switch with no results.I was afraid of burning the brainbox up and called the guy I bought the boat from and he told me that those switches will not work with that motor that there has to be an ignition lug.I am going to try that ,I know the other switch worked so I guess I have to get one like it with a seperate choke switch, but I do thank you for answering me.
