I've had my mechanic check my 1992 90HP Force out. numebr 2 showed bad compression. decarbed and did a leakdown compression test

number 1 is 13%
number 2 is 33%
number 3 is 15%

He says probably scoring on the walls. I've called around to some places and they think it will cost around 1800-2000 dollars to fix.

What would you all suggest I do? how much do you think I can get if I part it out or sell it as is?

racer,

Thanks.

he said number 2 was the issue. leakdown % being over 20%. something about the % of air passing.

Maybe I don't understand the leakdown compression test numbers?

Pull the head and examine to determine extent of damage.
Parting it out on ebay should bring $600-$900.
Selling it whole, probably only $500.
WHY? Because who wants to buy a bad motor and pay an enormous shipping fee, when they only need a lower unit, ignition system, or carb.
