adjusting steering

when i am running my boat it pulls hard to the left if u dont touch the wheel, i was wondering if anyone could shine some light on this problem, 89 bayliner capri 125 force l drive.

There is a small tab on the bootm rear just behind the prop. It called a trim tab. Move the tab to compensate for the prop rotational thrust.

is it the little fin like structure above the prop where the exhaust comes out?

Yes. Not having real good luck can get 4000 rpm@ approx 25 Mph with me, kids ,some gear. At 4600 Ft altitude and sea level jets. There could be any number of reasons for this. Also boat needs a De-carb and also need to test compression. I just have used the motor as I got it. <br /><br />I will be rebuilding carbs and adjusting linkages and such soon. <br /><br />I am a bit miffed as i scuffed the new prop on some rocks 50 yards from shore! Did not even know the bottom was that shallow there.

thats bad, i can rev all the way to 5500-6000 maxed out doing around 40-45 MPH, but i usually cruise at 4500-5000 at 30-37 MPH. i got to admit though i like this L drive even if people say it sux

The exhaust snout above the prop does double duty as the trim tab.<br />Loosen it and move the trailing edge toward the side the boat is pulling to.
