How to remove flywheel on 86, 85HP

A week or two ago I was having problems with my 1986 85HP force... wouldn't start.<br /><br />1- I checked plugs, wires, coils, no fire at all.<br /><br />Since there's no fire to any coil, I assume its not a problem with the CDI boxes and that it was a stator problem. A visual inspection of the stator revealed that it had a burn mark on it so I've ordered a replacement.<br /><br />My problem is.... getting the flywheel off... what kind of puller do I need to get this thing off!!??<br /><br />Thanks,<br />AS

I used a harmonic balancer puller for my 1993 70hp. Just put some pressure on the flywheel, let it set for a bit then took a decent hammer and gave the puller bolt a tap. The thing almost few off. <br /><br />There is a puller made for the outboard but if your careful the balacer puller does the job well.<br /><br />K
