Won't idle

I have Chrysler 105 1976, idles great with the mufs on but when in the water it will idle for only a few sec.Replaced plugs, has good compresion, starts right up after it shuts off. Has outstanding speed at half and full throtle sputters a bit at very slow speed.Has convertion kit on it for distributer cap.<br />Any thoughts.

Adjust the Idle air screws when in the water. You are not getting the back pressure you should when on muffs. Also replace plugs. I know for a fact bad plugs or dirty plugs can cause this issue.

If that carb is original without being rebuilt I would do it and do the fuel pump as well. NAPA sells both kits and also replace all the fuel lines. Chances are your carb has crap in it and you will need to take it apart to clean it. As long as it is apart you should put a rebuild dit into it. 15 bucks a carb and the fuel pump is 9 bucks for the kit.

Pulled the plugs and the bottom plug is not firing, pull of the dist cap and the nipple for that plug is black. I will replace that and see what happens.

Carb is clean, no problems thier. Still waiting for distributer cap to come in.
