Steering Cable

I have a 1985 Cheetah 160 with a 1985 Force outboard made by U.S.Marine. I need a new steering cable and since they dont make that engine anymore what cable would fit. Also is there a site where i can find step by step instructions as to how to replace a steering cable. Thank for all the answers i get

Before you spend $90-$150 on a cable, you may want to consider replacing your entire steering unit, for not that much more. Rack steering units are only $20 more than the cable. The no feedback systems are about $80 more than just the cable.<br /><br />They have come a long way in the last 20 years, and the newer <br /><br />Do you have a rotary or a rack steering system now?<br /><br />Start by looking here: web page<br /><br /><br />Instructions are/should be included with the cable or unit.

It is a rack steering system that is on the boat now and it takes 2 hand just to turn the wheel its really tough to steer. Thanks for the answers.

I found a no feed back rack system for 150.00 would this be better than the regular rack system and make the boat steer alot easier?

wHICH IS A BETTER SYSTEM A NO FEED BACK RACK SYSTEM OR A NO FEED BACK ROTARY SYSTEM/???
