I have a 1990 force 90hp. With a chrysler 85 powerhead on it. I just bought it and took it out for its maiden voyage today and it fell on its face. i have 135 on two cylinder and 75 on the third. Not good. The bad cylinder plug was washed clean. I pulled the head and gasket went bad. Now heres my question the problem cylinder is scratched in one spot as to where i can feel it with my finger nail. Can i get that bored?? and where can I get oversized piston?? Or should I leave it alone and put a new gasket on??

It won't heal itself.

You can run it, but realize, it won't last long.

Re: Low compression repair question 85 hp

right now you may have a rebuildable rig. if you run it till it fails it may not be,
not only do the piston rings cool the piston they seal the hot combustion gases. once those gasses start blasting past the piston rings on a two stroke bad things happen. piston skirts become coated with carbon and seize and worse the combustion gasses interfere with the incoming fuel charge creating low oil ratios in the crankcase that leads to bearing failures that destroy cranks.
a 50/1 fuel oil mix is useless if it cannot get to the crankcase.

Ok That sound like good advise. Where should i start to get A new piston and can that cylinder get bored out? Then i guess it will have to be oversized. The scratches arent that bad.
