I'm looking for a replacement left-side motor mount for my 88' 85 hp force. My current one is beginning to split. I've been searching on e-bay but haven't had any luck. Does anyone have any idea where I might find this part. Thanks

What exactly do you mean by "motor mount"?
Do you mean the transom bracket, #6 below?

Or some other motor mount?

Best bet is probably to contact sellers that are parting out motors on ebay, and ask them if they have it available.

I'm sure many of them get tossed in the scrap heap.

Another option would be to have yours welded and reinforced.

if you are talking about the actual rubber motor mount that holds motor to front housing (and indirectly the swivel bracket) then I have a pair in my box of spare parts. If you are talking about the lower motor mount on side of motor leg near bottom of rear housing then clean it up and JB-weld the rubber back on.

I notice that you are salt water location. If you have to pull the cover and mounts then you should get a piece of 1.125 diameter solid aluminum rod before you start (length depends upon whether you have a 20" or 25" shaft. If in doubt buy a 20" length of rod and cut to fit. should cost you about $10 per motor). Replacing this rod and the trim mounting shaft are the two most difficult tasks in salt-watering your engine. With front cover and motor mounts removed you have already done 90% of the work. May as well do the other 10% and never have to worry about stiff steering again.

I apologize for taking so long to reply. As far as the part I require, it is part # 6 in the diagram that roscoe so kindly provided. Thank you roscoe.
RRitt, thanks for both of your recommendations. Yes...my steering is a bit stiff. Thanks to those lovely press-fit zerk fittings that constantly blow out whenever I attempt to grease them.

try searching ebay using the phrase "stern bracket" or "transom mount" or "transom bracket". your search should look something like following:
(chrysler,force) (stern, transom) (bracket,mount)

I have a pair in parts bin, but they are later model than '88 and don't have the hex bolt that presses against inside of transom. Some of the earlier chrysler brackets that you find on ebay may not have steering tube hole.
