Help me get the most out of my Chysler!

Hey guys, a few months ago I bought a 1973 Tahiti with a 1973 Chrysler 130 HP O/B. The motor itself runs GREAT, but I'm looking to get more out of it. Any suggestions? I always run 93 octane fuel and recently replaced the spark plugs.

First off get a clymer manual or go to www.chryslercrew.com and buy and download a parts and service manual for it. Impeller change every other year and carb and fuel pump rebuilds probably every 3 years. Make sure you winterize it with fogging oil. Never run gas out of a 2 stroke without fogging oil. Drain lower unit and refill in the fall never the spring in a climate that will get below freezing. Would not hurt to change out the thermostat a couple of weeks after you do the impeller. When that chrysler was made there was no such thing as unleaded gas. You might find that 87 octane works better then 93 and you will have less carbon build up. Decarb motor every season using the methods described in the FAQ forum here at iboats. If you have any specific questions about the motor or how to do something do a search first and if that does not answer your question post the question here with a new topic.

Thanks Euro. I did run a can of Seafoam through the motor via the gas, I emptied the can in 12 gallons of gas. It did seem to help. I have Seafoamed my truck before through the intake, but I have heard that this can do some serious damage to a 2 stroke motor, because it will wash the oil off the bearings or something like that. Is this true??

Seafoam will not damage your 2 stroke.
It was made for 2 strokes.
Seafoam is approximately 40% oil, and it can be used as a fogging oil as well.

Thanks! I read on another forum (F150online.com) that some guy used it in his two stroke, and it toasted the motor. Of course, he was a newbie, and I don't think he's been back since. So I'm guessing I just Seafoam the motor the same way I do the truck? Start motor, and get the motor to suck it up through a vacuum hose or spray it into the carb? Then let it sit for a while, and start it up and let the smoke show begin?

Sounds good. Or you can get a can of the aerosol version, Seafoam Deep Creep, and spray it in, but it is more expensive.

Thanks. I picked up a can today (original recipe) and I'll probably do it tomorrow.
