Water in oil? bf130

I recently found milky oil towards the top of the dipstick. The oil on the end where the level registers looked clean. Yesterday, I checked again after pulling out of the lake and it seems to be getting worse. The milky look was kind of swirled in with the oil on the end of the dipstick. Still didn't really look like water in the oil, more like moisture collecting in the crankcase, but now it's got me worried. The water pump went out a little over a year ago, and it ran hot. It has run fine ever since, and still runs fine. Could this be a leaky head gasket? The motor was not run from May until Dec. Since then it has been out almost every weekend. I noticed this problem after just a few trips. I also have not been running far, fishing close to the ramp and trolling alot. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jdman

This is probably condensation that is collecting because the engine is not being run log enough to get it warm. If a head gasket was leaking or there was another internal leak, the level would rise on the dipstick. Make sure the thermostat is of the proper temperature and that it is operating properly. Periodically make a longer high speed run to ensure the engine warms to the point to eliminate condensation. More frequent oil changes may also be in order.

Thanks for the reply. I think it is just condensation. I pulled the oil filter off and dumped the oil out that was in it to take a look and there was no water in it. I am going to drain the crankcase tommorrow and see what it looks like also. Thanks again. Jdman
