1996 Kawi 1100 ZXI,what top speed to expect

I am working on a 1996 Kawi 1100 ZXI triple for a friend, and when I took it out for a cuff the other day I was surprised that it only hit 43mph at 6800rpms. It is running good,all 3 cyls firing,plugs looked good,compression is good. This particular boat has no trim,which I assume would help immensely. The boat seems to take a lot of water over the front until you get it on plane.Any help much appreciated.

Between the motor and the water is the pump. Is it the original? Has anybody inspected it for damage/wear?

way too slow,, kawasaki has a history of problems with the pump especially in salt water use, the housing corrodes behind the liner and bulges it , then it either wears out the edge of the impeller or locks up the pump, also the impeller could be bent or banged up

kawi 1100s werent the fastest out there stock. anywhere from 52-57 MPH depending on the year. I woudl check the impeller for bent or broken impeller the pump vanes may be broken up. You could be running too rich,<br />Rob

i have a 1996 zxi 900 it goes about 40-45 trimmed down as soon as you trim up it climbs to 55-59. I thought zxi 1100 had a auto trim system
