My experience is that changing oil like that won't have any effect on your leak at all.
Adding a stopleak will be a hail mary with possible negative consequenses.

If it is a reasonably small leak the new high miliage oils will help! Also the seal swelling aditives you can buy will work also, as long as the seal is not split! just use about half as much as they tell you to! It will take a little longer to work, but will not disolve your seals! My suggestion is to fix the problem though!

johnson 110, the 4.0L Jeep engines were nortorious for rear main seal failure.
All you will do is put off what you will have to do anyway, and that's replace the rear main seal.
If you are mechanically inclined you can do this yourself.
If not, then the $500 price tag to have it replaced by someone else will entice you to learn.
Here is a nice write up on the job.
Rear main

The 2 part rear mains are cake, I have done a number of them. The rear main on the 5.8 in my 95 Ford F150 has started a very small leak, and I need to find out if it has the 2 piece or 1 piece seal. Either way I will fix it eventually but I am not worried about it right now. Our Grand Cherokee has some oil seepage, but it is from the rear of the valve cover, and that oil has worked its way down to the bottom of the engine, and it makes it look like its a rear main leak. Check that out before you drop the pan. Good luck...

Re: oil leak 4.0 jeep

hello
good article on seal replacing. only thing I also do is to cut a small piece of milk jug to fit between the back of the upper seal and the block. the sharp block edge sometimes wants to shave the back side of the seal.
if it were me I would try to go ahead and fix it. time to clean the oil intake screen as well.
good luck and keep posting.
to spot oil leaks. carefully clean the engine then remove the PCV valve and breather tubes. tape off holes in cover.run engine about 15-1800 rpm and look for oil leaks. when found replace all previously removed hoses and valves.

I had that problem on my last jeep before I wrecked it...only worse. Was using about a quart/25 miles. :D I switched to 15w40 and it helped slightly, then I tried a bottle of STP stop leak and that slowed it to about 1 quart/100 miles. The day before I planned on replacing it I totaled the thing... :D
