My 11 year old was on the computer when I was at work last night. I don't know what he did, but now everytime I open anything from my desktop, it opens in minimal size, and I have to maximise it each time. Not that big a deal, but is getting on my nerves all ready! How do I get it to open in maximise view?

If it happens again all you have to do is manually resize window by grabbing on the sides and pulling out. Windows rememebers the last size and will keep opening windows like that until you change it

More responses please. My 8 year old did the same thing a week ago. Any time I open in a new window its half size. I looked all through the help files and couldn't find anything.

KB, at least if you are running XP, drag the borders of the reduced size window to full screen. Then close the window and reopen it. It should be full screen. I was also plagued with that situ. Often times I will open two pages of Ebay and tile them vertically via a right click on the start menu tray. After doing that, ebay opens 1/2 screen vertical until I perform the above.

suggestion, try window help, type minimize, there are several situations we all take for granted and short cuts forgotten, when you save a favorite is ask if to open minimize or full screen. there is a window option you can toggle for all programs. go to help.

Quick Answer:<br />If you have a desktop icon for any program do this:<br />Right click on icon<br />Left click on 'properties'<br />Look for entry box "Run"<br />Change entry (from pull down list) to Maximized<br />Click on "Apply"<br />You're done.<br /><br />BTW, this works with the programs you have listed in Start,Programs...too<br />Just right click on any program listed and follow destructions above...

I tried it. The only one that would allow anything remotely to be changed was word pad. Its still small windows. As an interesting note last night everything started out in big windows for the first time in weeks. Today it was back to small windows.

Yikes Ken, that's strange. I did some snooting around the Web and found these links. BTW, if you sort this out, please post back what you did to fix it.<br /><br /> link1 <br /> link2<br />link3 <br />link4 <br /> link5

I'll be hangin for a posted solution. Window opening size certainly seems to be inconsistant. With the incredible amount of questionable stuff ol' Bill stuffs into Windows you'd think there would be some way to set the window opening size.

BINGO :) :) :) <br /><br />Link #4 did it. Open the new window. Drag it to full size. Hold down control, shift and then close using the X all at the same time. It worked! Thanks Xcusme

KB, I tried the control/x and the control/shift/x. Nothing at all happened. No windows closed. Back to square one.

Does anyone here not use MSIE? There are much better browsers out there. I like Mozilla Firefox, but there are others that are good too. Firefox blocks and allows popups selectively and has tabbed browsing, which is great in forums, etc. Not to mention, it's less of a virus vector. <br /><br />Just a thought. ;o)
