I just tried toothpaste as I have heard this works, but all it does is mask it. I can still smell the gas.

Ken

Whisk Hand cleaner if you can find it. It will cut polyurethane off of your hands and paint also.

You can try soaking your hands in lemon juice or concentrate. You can also add in some baking powder with the lemon juice to make a paste. Allow a minute or two for the juice to be absorbed into your skin then you can wash them with soap and water

Wear fuel resistant gloves and avoid getting it on you in the first place. I cannot be good for your skin in the first place. Here in sunny funny california we still live with the MTBE fiasco. Supposedly that additive causes cancer.

Gloves wouldnt have helped in this instance cause it was running all down my arm too. Yes it stung!

Today the smell is gone, so far time is the only answer.

Previously I had tried all kinds of soaps, but nothing ever completely removed the smell. By competley, I mean that you cant smell it with your hands directly under your nose. I dont think anything will.

I once had a fuel hose break and had to lay in a puddle of fuel to fix it so I could get home. Once at home, I shampooed the heck out of my hair. Later that day I got a haircut and I made the girl sick with the fumes.

I will try the lemon juice next time, but that will sting pretty good too!

Ken

Try Simple green cleaner. It cleans deep and you should use a fingernail brush with it to get under your nails where the smell probably is.It will also leave a fresh scent on your hands. If all else fails you can try a blow torch but that may sting a little.Charlie

just a thought but cold water closes your pores and traps chemicals in skin and hot water can force them in deeper always use warm water.

Hey Bondo, I have done that. Also have washed my hands in onions before too and it works.

As far as a gas smell, use Boraxo if you can find it.

The original is what I am talking about. The 20 mule team stuff.

Hey bondo, throw a cut up onion in the minnow trap and stand back.
You can just watch the minnows fighting each other to get in there. :D
