I had my 1500 Steury listed on ebay... asking a fair price and life was good.

This morning I was pleased to see that fbrickhouseg performed a Buy It Now option and I thought hey life is better yet!

Then the bad news.... My auction was ended with a bogus buyer along with many many many boat auctions. All Bogus/fraud buy it now.

Okay I am not going to point and accuse but... if this fbrickhouseg (ebay id) is doing it they should be shot. On the other hand if it is a case of a stolen ebay id or identity theft then I feel sorry for them.

There are allot of frustrated sellers this morning.

So, I relisted the item and in a few days I will have to re-submit to get back the extra fees spent as a result of all this.

I hate feeling like I want to kill but I am sure you understand.

Bob

No longer a registered user...

Obviously someone had their account hijacked.
Member since '99, all + feedback then WHAM, someone went out screwing with people.

Contact ebay about it, they will refund your listing and final value fees because of it.
I'd go ahead and re-list, but follow up with ebay, they will help.

I just reached "power seller", I'd hate to see what damage could happen if someone got my user info.

I've been getting emails from "eBay" saying my acc will be closed in 72 hrs if I don't respond. these emails are bogus. I forworded them to ebay and ebay said they are not from them. The email looks just like the ebay sign in page so if you type in your ebay name and password they got you.

paypal schemes are out there the same way.

another reason to keep your ebay and paypal password different.

...and your online banking, keep that password different.

If you use the same for everything,

Someone gets your ebay ID... then logs into paypal, now has all your banking info..

I have had good luck on ebay so far, had one deal go sour about a month ago but the next highest bidder agreed to come buy the item. I find I get the highest prices on ebay. I hate the fact they allow users to hide their feedback.

Plenty of scammers on ebay though. A buddy got caught up in a very sophisticated ebay scam and lost over 2400 bucks, along with dozens of others from the same seller. Too complicated to explain here but it was a good, well thought out scam.

Sorry to hear you got scammed, but scams happen and they have been happening long before man started walking upright.

Ebay, with it's millions of auctions, just makes it more dramatic and unfortunately, wider in scope.

Ebay is like any other money-for-merchandise transaction. Some will make money, some will lose money, some get scammed, or not paid and some will get the deal of a lifetime.

What is most important that everyone heed the scam warnings and follow the safe practices to reduce problem similar to what you had experienced.

Good luck or your auction re-listing.

Marty

Re: E-bay Just Gotta vent !!!!!

Update - I have heard from the buyer who claims his ID was stolen. I guess on his side he has been through the ringer too.

Ebay is the worst culprit. They have credited the final value fee of $40 but are really dragging their feet. I am sad to say that all the ebay help catagories stink (for lack of being able to use stronger words here!).

So, my boat was relisted and I have been answering questions and even avoiding the scam e-mails (yeah getting quite a few of them too). The auction has about 2 days left so time will tell.

Thanks for your support.
Bob

Hang in there Bob!

I just finished some successful sales of downriggers, where the buyer purchased both, picked them up and paid cash. No packing and shipping - SWEET - I threw in a couple of weights and releases just for karma ;) !

Ebay is great, but by no means perfect.

No way could I have made that much money selling them locally.

Marty

Patience has paid me off. I have sold my boat and with mixed emotions I relly loved that boat.

Thanks for your support. I will be turning the boat over to the new owner this week along with the iboats web address. Kind of a way to help out the new boater/owner.

Bob

Another tip on passwords. keep them different and with alpha and numeric characters. Also use a pattern for generating your passwords. For example: Use a combination of the site name, year you graduated (or some other significant event) and a special name. Also subsitute "1" for "i" "3" for "e" etc. The password could look like "b0b193bay88" Special name is "Bob" or "b0b" with a zero in this case. Siginificant year of 1988 is split into two, and "3bay" is the site name.
