Re: direct tv no deal

I have Direct TV. Install was free. They put it on the roof of my garage with a special tripod mount.

It does get dropouts in heavy rain and snow but that is only for a few minutes. Normal rain storm does not bother it. Big snow storm, maybe 2 or 3 times a year require me to go out and brush snow off the dish to get the picture back.

The quality of the picture is far, far better than anything available from cable, except maybe HD channels. The picture and sound quality alone are worth the price.

And cable service is full of extra noise and service interruptions. Not to mention the really bad picture quality.

Don't know jack about dish network, but direct tv has not been a problem with billing or service.

If cable was available where I live, I would have it just for the modem.

And direct tv does not ask for SSN.

Re: direct tv no deal

I've had DirecTV for 4 or so years now and I like it. The only time the weather effects it is when it's raining REALLY hard and the sky is black ... Tornato weather.. It's probably only happend 3 or 4 times and only for a minute or two whenever it does happen.

What does happen all the time though, is airplains mess up my signal. I'm in the flight path to the local airport, and at night when all the planes are landing, the signal "blips" for a second or two whenever a plane is coming in. I can't blame DirecTV for this though..

I installed it myself because I'm anal about things like that and want it done my way.. By the way - I mounted the dish just below the deck, on a leg. That way, it's out of sight, the cables are hidden all the way back into the house, and I didn't have to put holes in the house or roof.
