Re: Painting a carb?

I have seen this done many times. I don't know how long it will last, but it can be done. Paint might reduce heat transfer out of the carb if it is laid on too thick, but probably won't be thick enough to worry about.
Of course be careful not to get any paint where the gas will be. The gas will eat away at the paint breaking the paint away into the engine or filters.

Im sure your smart enough not to paint the inside. You can use a urethane with a catalist. you can find a bronze color at the local hardware store in a rattle can that will almost match the holley color exactly. just dust it on for best results, then when it dries use a urethane clear over it to seal it from gas. Just one light coat of clear is all you need. Done properly it will even fool some judges.?????????????? I do it all the time.

How about just using some polishing tools on it available from eastmans?

Polished up it would look it's best and you could then clearcoat it.

Bob

Fool some judges LubeDude?
Makes me wonder. You ever mix metal filings from a grinder with paint to cover some kind of aluminum part to convince the judges?
Something tells me I am not alone here.

DD- You didn't do that in IMCA did you? Naw, not an honest man like yourself. :) I had a factory aluminum intake on my purestock when we were required to run cast. I did exactly like you are saying. Worked great. Went through tech twice. Third time when he pulled the magnet off the paint and fillings came with it.
