Re: Antivirus

Trend Micro Internet Security is the only one I use now.<br /><br />It's an all-in-one package. Antivirus, Firewall, Ad-blocker etc...<br /><br />Get it at Newegg.com:<br /><br /> http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=1297339SF&depa=0 <br /><br />They have both a retail version and a download version.<br /><br />You'll be surprized how much better your computer runs after you get rid of Norton.<br /><br />H.

I recently renewed my subscription to Norton. I recommend it.<br /><br />Moving to Non-boating Tech.

Re: Antivirus

I agree with trend micro pc chillin. When I had trouble with nortons I could not find a support link or email address for help. Trend responds usually within one working day for any technical problems. It also found two virus on my computer that nortons and Mcaffes did not find.

Re: Antivirus

We also use Trend Micro PC-cillin. Worth the money IMHO however it updates continually like several times a day. Its not too much of a hassle on cable but might slow things down a bit on dial up.

Re: Antivirus

I just upgraded my Norton Anti-virus. The upgrade was FREE with the purchase of Turbo Tax.

Re: Antivirus

Norton does not update their definitoions very often unless you are a big preferred customer (consumer subscription doesn't count as preferred). Usually, they ONLY release new updates weekly. I have gotten 3-4 updates from Mcafee in the last 2-3 days.<br /><br />I recommend the free AVG (www.grisoft.com) for home use. Mcafee is good as well.<br /><br />Now we are in my line of work! I use Mcafee to protect my 250 corporate users, but steer some to AVG for their home PC's along with the free version od Ad-Aware (www.lavasoftusa.com) and Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html).

Re: Antivirus

I use TrendMicro by annual subscription. Works great and also has Spyware blocker. I still use Adaware, however.

Re: Antivirus

Okay Trend Micro on home desktop, E Trust EZ antivirus at work and norton in my laptop. Of the three I seem to be leaning towards the Trend Micro.<br /><br />Bob

Re: Antivirus

norton. and they update every day unlike others stated. you can manually download the update each day, but their auto update does it for you.<br /><br />whatver you decide, make sure you have:<br /><br />1. updated anti-virus<br />2. updated spyware scanner<br />3. personal firewall<br /><br />very few people have all 3. i was missing number 3 and paid the price. auto-protect from your anti-virus and spyware software does not constitute a firewall.

Re: Antivirus

AVG is free and works very well. Checks for updates when you boot your pc only once a day, no matter how many times a day your start it. It does not hog your computer and runs silently in the background. Two years now and I have not had a problem. My wife goes to every website on the world wide web  She gives AVG a good test.

Re: Antivirus

When I need to update my subscription for Norton, I just uninstall and then re-install the program from disc. Gives me a free 3 months every time!

Re: Antivirus

Well, after having a Hard drive meltdown and having to reboot everything a week or so ago, I decided to give Norton the boot and give AVG a shot. Just downloaded it and installed and scanned. We will see how it works. I did it on the recomendation of a close computer geek that when I said I had Norton, he said, "Thats too Bad", and recomended the AVG.
