1984 gmc tow ratings or capacities?

hi.<br /><br />i have a 1984 gmc short bed full size pickup with the 4.1L inline 6 and th350 auto tranny.<br /><br />ive searched all over and want to know how to find out my tow ratings. i am towing a 20' sportcraft center console with a 1991 225hp omc sea drive 3.0L, rolling on an aluminum single axle trailer, estimated total weight is 3500lbs.<br /><br />anybody here have a similar vehicle/motor combo so i can git me a ball park figure on weather or not im safe?<br /><br />i AM using a class V hitch with a 2 inch ball.<br /><br />thanks

I think the truck should be fine for that application. I would question the single axle under the trailer though. That boat at 20' seems awful big for just one axle.

The manual for my '79 C20 shows 8,000lbs towing weight for a C10.

You should be fine towing with this set up. If you are towing a good distance or a lot of stop and go towing I would install me an aftermarket tranny cooler for the piece of mind.<br />Aboat trailer is easier to pull then other types but certain conditions will heat the tranney fluid.

I think if you take the VIN number to a chebby dealer they can look it up and tell you. Also matters what rear axle you have, and a tranny cooler. Heed Bubbakat on tranny cooler.
