Have a new computor coming soon and it will have xp on it. Now I would like to network this win98 machine to the new one to get my stuff transferred. I am using the network card for dsl now and am sure I will be the same with the new. Anyways the question is: is there a setup procedure in the software to do this or just plug 'em in. <br />I did this before with 2 win95 machines and it worked. I know this can be done, 98 to xp, just need to know what the procedure is. Thanks Chief ;)

Re: Windows xp

XP will have a "Network setup connection wizard" that will allow you to make a floppy disk that you can just pop into the 98 pc and it will set it up for you. You'll still have to "share" the drives.

Re: Windows xp

So, what you're saying is that the machine will figure it out and tell me what to do...I don't know if I like that, but I will stay open minded...Chief ;)

XP had has a "File and Setting Transfer Wizard" that will walk you through the process of transferring everything from the old PC to the new. You'll find it under program->Accessories-> System Tools -> File & Settings transfer Wizard

Re: Windows xp

Maybe someone knows about Norton? I bought the new Norton, but this version came free for 6 months so I thought I would use this till renew time then install the new one. I have to disable the firewall to get on internet. I can't figure out the settings to get it to let me have access. Help please...Chief
