Been taking my motorcycle to work.

I have a laptop (IBM R51) that I take to work with me.

I have also been overloading the lapotp bag with things lately. Game controller, cd cases, Ac adapter, mouse, meds, etc,etc...

Anyway, Apparently the laptop bag has reached or exceeded it's capacity, because I now have a couple small dark spots on my laptop screen from things pressing into the top of the laptop lid. This was intensified by the fact that the bungee that holds the bag on the bike runs right across the top of the screen.

So now I have a couple dark spots on the screen. They are not that bad but still annoy me. Only really noticable on a white background, like the google home page. I sent the machine back to IBM since it's under warranty, and they told me they would gladly replace the screen... for $895. "User Enduced Pressure Damage" is what they called it.

Any ideas other than just live with it?

To clarify it's not dead pixels, it looks like smudges, about 1/2" to 3/4" across, in two or three spots on the screen. Screen still works perfect and if there's not a white background you can't really see them at all.

Ideas?
