(Heat the Broken piece to RED Hot,+ Quench it with Cold Water,.......
It'll turn out with little more than Finger Pressure..................

Probably need Oxy/Ac to get it Hot enough though..........)

Im going to try this on them nuts if i can get up inthere without burning something up.

That pretty much says it All.........

On a Cast Iron Manifold,.......
I'd use a Smaller than normal tip,+ try to heat Only the broken piece,...
'Course that can't happen, but Most of the heat Will be in the Stud,......You'll be pretty much Melting the Edges.......
Then Quench it......

On something Steel,.... Exactly Where the Heat goes is of Less Concern...
But it Works the Same Way.....

If there has to be any Drilling,.. like for an Easy-out,.... Do it 1st,.... After the Quench, it's Too Hard...

After the Quench,... Blow off the excess water,+ Bathe it in your favorite Slippery Juice,+ It'll Almost Fall Out..........

I've done 15 year old Exhaust Clamps,.... That didn't even Look like Nuts anymore.......... ;)

Ive done that on bearing races.....ya know the ones in a hub without a cutout to knock the race out. Heat the race red, then turn hub upside down, then douse with water the race will fall out.

Ayuh,.......

Or,... Weld an inch of Bead on the inside face of the race,...........
Stick or Mig both work........
It'll Just Fall Out in a minute.....

It's a Good Way to get a Pocket Bearing out of the end of a Crankshaft Too........
The Welding I mean......

Re: 95 GMC transmission Update

You can probably borrow/rent a pilot bearing puller from a local parts house or if you find a steel rod that will JUST slip into the pilot bearing, you can pack (and I do mean PACK) the bearing hole full of heavy grease, then place the rod into the hole and hit the rod with a hammer, repack the hole with grease, hit rod with hammer, pack the hole with grease, hit the rod with hammer, pack the hole with grease, hit the rod with hammer, and keep repeating until bearing comes out. The grease wont compress, so everytime you pack more in with the pressure from the blow of the hammer eventually the hole will become so full of grease that the bearing will be forced out by the pressure of the grease behind it.

Your tranny uses a special lube called Syncro-Mesh, avaliable at your local GM dealer.

Re: 95 GMC transmission Update

Don't just tap it with the hammer, knock the he!! out of it, and the rod should juuust fit in the hole, if its to small it won't work.

BTW Hope to see ya at Grayson Lake. So get that puppy running and come on. Bring the wife, mine will be there. :)
