Re: positive floatation

hey Franki whats the brand of your boat, i may be able to help. Also why not take it to a weighbridge (we have them at the tips here on the gold coast) and get it weighed.

Re: positive floatation

Hey Mr TerryC,

its good to see other Aussies on the list.. I used to live in brisbane...

I think we have weigh stations at truck stops in some places, so I'll try one of those..

going by that USCG booklet, I need roughly 20 cubic feet of boyancy material...

where the _hell would I put that??? if I put 20 foot3 of material, there won't be alot of space left for me.. :)

regards

frank

Re: positive floatation

Terryc,,,

I think the boats called a piercy, they were made briefly by someone known for another brand, but I can't remember what it was...

Crab bait.. I like well traveled books, so thankyou, also, its cooler to have the original then it is a printed out pdf, so I'll keep the real one in my boat with the rest of the paperwork.

Thanks..

rgds

frank

Re: positive floatation

Frank,
I havent heard of a 'piercy', but will check with some friends of mine who may know, will let you know if i discover anything. To me a 100hp does'nt seem too bad, I had a V163c half cab haines with a 115 Johnson which was a good setup. My current 5.2 mtr Seafarer Viking is rated to 175Hp. Both boats probably lighter than yours. By the way there would be very few mono hulls in australia that would have the ability to float if swamped, we're way behind the americans in flotation.
Terry

Re: positive floatation

Thanks terryc, appreciated.

Well, I would prefer it floats, but I guess if it just has basic floatation, that will do for now. I'll do it all properly on my next boat. :)

regards

frank.

Looks like I've gone and done it now!! I guess I surpassed whatever magical limit it is that makes you a captain on this thing.

Re: positive floatation

I think they have changed the rating,, it used to take 100 posts before you reached captain...

I've got along way to go for my next "promotion" I think you become an admiral at 1000 posts. :)

nearly halfway there..

rgds

Frank

Incidently.. terryc.. if you want a look at the type of boat a piercy is.. have a look at the photos in the trailer post thats up the top of this list at the moment.
