95' Capri 2050 bowrider

Hi all. I've found a 95' Capri 2050 with a Mercrusier 305 cu in V-8 that I'm going to check out today and take out on the water. Any advice on this model...anything to watch out for?<br /><br />I've asked the usual questions: <br /><br />1)salt water - only out about 6 times and flushed afterward each time.<br />2)storage - stored outside with mooring cover, however had a heating lamp inside. I'll make sure to check floor as best as I can.<br />3)2nd owner. Bought it 3yrs ago from a dealer (Olympic Boat Center). Dealer said that previous owner had used it in lakes.<br />4)He's not had to have any major engine work on it. Unsure of hours.<br />5)He's selling because he doesn't hardly use anymore.<br /><br />-- I need to ask him about regular winterizing/de-winterizing when I meet with him.<br /><br />-- Can anyone tell me if these engines are Fresh Water Cooled?<br /><br />-- Can anyone tell me what engine this would be (liter) with the specs he gave (Mercrusier 305 cu in V-8)?<br /><br />-- Should there be a place to see how many hours are on the boat?<br /><br />He has it listed for $8600.00...is this reasonable or a little too much? I mean, I obviously plan on negotiating the price! <br /><br />I know there's something else I want to ask..but can't remember right now <br /><br />THANKS!!

Ok, I bought it! It's beautiful and the couple that sold it are great! They took such great care of it!!! The engine is an Alpha one. More to come!

Dang, vampire -- I'm sorry, I totally missed this post!!<br /><br />I have a 1991 Bayliner 2050 Capri... and I LOVE IT. I have the same motor as you and it pushes just fine. I cannot attest to the price. I paid $4095 for mine and it was very gently used. Of course, my boat is 4 years your senior - but is that worth 4G's... I cannot say.<br /><br />Yes, it is water cooled.<br /><br />I don't believe there is a place to check the number of hours.<br /><br />EDIT: LETS SEE PICS!!!<br /><br />DOUBLE EDIT: Looks like we have a litle Bayliner 2050 club here <br /><br />TRIPLE EDIT: Check out baylinerownersclub.com. Hey Vampire... after looking at your other pics... I want to reccomend something...<br /><br />I notice the oxidation on the gelcoat -- Mine had it MUCH worse than yours is. Many people reccomended the Meguiars Gelcoat Restoration kit... I was skeptical - but IT WORKS... and it WORKS GOOD!!!<br /><br />It's a three step process that gets it to just SHINE. Just a suggestion, a bunch of the applicator pads as well as a couple terry cloth towels to handle the three different steps. I was leary about using the same applicator pad for step 3 that I used on step one -- primarily because step one has fine granules in it that clean up the gelcoat. eeboater - Wow, that's amazing! I did purchase some 303 PROTECTANT http://www.overtons.com/modperl/overtons/detail/pdetail2.cgi?r=detail_view&item_num=23238&fcat= <br />and am hoping that works. Have read good stuff about it... do you know much about this product...ever tried it?

I have a 21 foot Gambler and use a product from 3M. It's called 3M Marine Fiberglass Restorer and Wax. For heavily oxidized finishes. Combines rubbing compound and wax in one application.<br /><br />It works great. 3M part # 09005 or # 051131.<br />Just my .02 worth.<br />Here is how it turned out.<br />

<br />The pic really don't do it justice, it really worked good for me and that is all I will use now.

My books say, 190hp if 2brl carb, 205hp if 4brl carb. Good weekend to take her out.
