Re: 1989 Reinell 181SR

I have the same model year Reinell, only the 24' cuddy. Based on my research, I have determined that Reinell has always made a good quality production boat available at an affordable price. Before I got mine, I invested a few hundred $$ in a survey with sea trial (highly recommended - can save you lots of $$ in the long run).

Here is the short version:
Some chopper glass, some handlaid glass. XL marine plywood throughout. All stainless steel fittings and hardware, most attached with nuts and bolts rather than screws. Nice interior layout. Great lines, quick to plane and very seaworthy.

As you probably know, the company is still around Reinell Home Page , but is basically a new company with the same name.

Hope some of this helps, good luck.

--rml

Re: 1989 Reinell 181SR

I owned a 1989 reinell 181sr bought it new in 89 and had it till1994 when it was sadly stolen and never recovered. it was a wonderfull boat and I can tell you for sure you will love it ! If you dont buy it please let me know and I will ! I have been searching to replace my old reinell with a duplicate if I can find a suitible one , mine was blue and had the 4.3 litre and omc king cobra outdrive .
The 181 hull is awesome quick to plane and turns on a dime ! incredibly light and responsive , sleek and fast... the 4.3 can easilly be hopped up to in excess of 400 hp or conservatively an easy 300 . the hull can handle it . also they came with 350 cid motors for a while but apparantly liability issues stopped that option in mid 89. however its no big deal to drop in a small block v8 and then the hp potential is even more limitless... In short I love 181 SR 's
you will too! let me know if you dont buy it , like I said I will !

Hi, my boyfriend and I just bought a 1989 Reinell 24' Cuddy Cabin. It has the 350. They did not have a manual. It looks to be in great shape and we paid $4500. Can anyone tell me if they have a manual and also good, bad... etc?:)

You might get better response if you start a new thread rather than tack on to a dead one.

But welcome to iBoats.
